Camp Chase was located four miles southwest of Columbus, Ohio, and at one time held 9,400 southern prisoners. It was said that 25,000 Confederates passed through the prison. There are 2035 Sons of the South buried at Camp Chase Cemetery. Eleven of those are veterans of the 38th Alabama Infantry Volunteers.

David Levi Crum, 1839-1862. Died of disease at Ft Gaines, Mobile, AL
and was buried at Ebenezer Cemetery, Oak Hill, Alabama.
William Peyton Crum, 1844-1871, 38th Alabama Infantry. Captured by Northern forces
at missionary Ridge on November 25, 1863, imprisoned at Rock Island, Illinois
December 9, 1863, and exchanged March 2, 1865. He is buried at
Ebenezer Cemetery, Oak Hill, Alabama.

Pvt. Wade Hampton Teat, a member of Company F, was born in 1829 and died in 1910. He is buried in the cemetery at Mountain Creek Old Soldiers Home Confederate Park near Verbena, Alabama.
