Pvt. Daniel Malcolm David Wyatt, Member of The Autauga Minute Men, 38th Alabama Infantry Regiment, Company H "Bell Rifles." (see photo) Daniel died December 25,1863, from *wounds or disease while at Fairgrounds Hospital No.2 in Atlanta, GA. Most likely wounded at the Battle of Missionary Ridge, TN. Many wounded were transported south by rail to hospitals in and around Atlanta. He is buried at Atlanta's Oakland Cemetery in the Unknown Confederate Dead Section. He is listed in the interment records as C.M. Wyalle, State Ala., Regt. 38, Co. H. Resident of Independence, Autauga County, AL. Son of Daniel Newton & Elizabeth Cherry Wyatt.

*Update - Sept. 2006: Pvt. Wyatt apparently survived the route at Missionary Ridge and was camped at Dalton with the 38th when he became too ill to remain.

Brigadier General James Thadeus Holtzclaw is buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Montgomery, AL.

Major Oricen Sibley Jewett is buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Montgomery, AL.

Pvt. James Lawrence Neely, Co. G, 1844-1914, of Coosa County is buried at Shiloh Cemetery in Chilton Co. about 5 miles south of Clanton. He was one of twenty Coosa Co. men who went to Mobile and joined the 38th Alabama.

Pvt. George W. Spigner - Member of the Autauga Minute Men, Co.B, 4th Alabama Volunteer Militia. Enlisted May 13, 1862 into Co.H, 38th Alabama Infantry Regiment at Ft. Gaines, Ala. Appears on a list of men reporting to Major A.M. Fowlkes, Dept. of Commissary, Army of Tennessee, paroled at Greensboro, NC on April 28, 1865. Buried at the Collee Cemetery in northwest Autauga County.

Pvt. Jesse G. Walker - Co H, 38th Alabama. Enlisted Oct. 29, 1862, at Mobile, Ala., by Capt. Jackson. Entered the hospital at LaGrange, Ga., Sept. 19, 1863, with gunshot would in right shoulder. At Dalton, Ga., in hospital with gunshot wound to left ankle, Sept. 20, 1864. Furloughed for 60 days to Plantersville, AL. Burial marker at Pine Level Methodist Church, Autauga County, AL.

Pvt. Aries Jefferson Wright - Co. H of the 38th Alabama Infantry. Enlisted in 1862 at Ft. Gaines, but rejected by the surgeon. Later enlisted in the 8th Alabama Regiment, Company I. His birthdate should be 1838, not 1848. Buried at the Wright Family Cemetery off Autauga Co. Rd. 19 & McGee Rd. near Vida, Autauga County, AL. He is the brother of William Jasper Wright (see below).

Pvt. William Jasper Wright - Member of the Bell Rifles, Company H, 38th Alabama Infantry Regiment. Captured near Nashville and sent to Camp Chase, Columbus, Ohio. Resident of Vida, Autauga County, AL. Buried in the Wright Family Cemetery off Autauga Co. Rd. 19 & McGee Rd.

Pvt. James A. Wright - Member of the Auatuga Minute Men, Company B of the 4th Alabama Volunteer Militia. Enlisted in Co H of the 38th Alabama Infantry in 1862 at Ft. Gaines, but was rejected by the surgeon. Later enlisted in the 8th Alabama Infantry Regiment, Co. I. He is a cousin of William Jasper Wright (see above). Buried at Big Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Autauga County, AL.

Pvt. John C. Butler - Member of the Autauga Minute Men, 4th Alabama Volunteer Militia, Company B. Enlisted at Fort Gaines 1862 into Company H of the 38th Alabama Infantry Regiment.. Captured near Nashville in 1864. Sent to Camp Chase, Ohio. Resident of Billingsley, Autauga County, AL. Buried at Big Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Autauga County.

Pvt. William Willis - Member of the Autauga Minute Men, 4th Alabama Volunteer Militia. Enlisted May 18, 1862, at Ft. Gaines, Ala., into Co.H, 38th Alabama Infantry. Rejected by Surgeon. Reenlisted in 1863 into Co.K, 7th Alabama Cavalry Regiment. Buried at the Willis/Hinton Cemetery near Big Springs, Autauga County, AL.
